And the main attractions: The PGA of America headquarters, two 18-hole championship golf courses, a 30-acre practice and training facility and the luxurious 500-room Omni PGA Frisco resort.Northern Texas PGA aims to provide fun for all ages with The Ronny Golf Park Northern Texas PGA CEO Mark Harrison calls The Ronny Golf Park at the section’s Frisco headquarters “the Pro V1 of golf parks.” This from the man whose idea to create an urban golf park in the Dallas area blossomed into what has become the $250 million Omni PGA Frisco Resort complex and the NTPGA headquarters.
Harrison’s original concept was to have artificial grass tee boxes and artificial grass greens. Instead the NTPGA headquarters sits amid a pristine 2-acre emerald green playground of artificial turf with an 18-hole putting course and an actual playground in a sea of blue grass. Not Kentucky bluegrass. Blue grass, albeit artificial grass. It is popular with NTPGA clients, especially the 4- and 5-year-olds who participate in after-school programs the section runs.
The co-founder and owner said his vision was to create a course that would attract the best amateur golfers from around the world to Trinity and to use the club as a way to fund charitable donations.For the third year in a row and for the 14th time in the last 18 years, Whispering Pines was voted the No. 1 course in Texas by The Dallas Morning News’ Texas Golf panel. Whispering Pines made its debut at No. 1 in 2006.
