A Waller man on Thursday was arrested on charges that earlier this year he rammed his truck and trailer into a sign at the FBI office in Houston.

Merlan is the second man charged with ramming the Houston building's gate since the beginning of 2021. Last year, Nestor Mariano Vidal Batista, a Cuban national, allegedly crashed a stolen vehicle into the front gates of the building. Batista was also charged willfully injuring or committing any depredation exceeding $1000 against U.S. property.

Herrera's arrest at the FBI office came about a month after he walked in the Houston Galleria while armed with a long gun. Herrera was tackled by the Houston police sergeant as he was walking toward a group of young women, and police said they found 120 more rounds of ammunition, a loaded handgun and a Bible on Herrera when they searched him.
