NEW: A Texas public safety official said today the commander on scene during the Uvalde, Texas shooting made 'the wrong decision' in deciding not to breach the classrooms where the gunman had barricaded himself with students and teachers sooner.

Steven McCraw, director of Texas Department of Public Safety, said Friday that the commander on scene during the Uvalde, Texas, made "the wrong decision" in deciding not to breach the classrooms where the gunman had barricaded himself with students and teachers sooner.McCraw said the commander considered the gunman barricaded and did not consider it an active-shooter situation despite 911 calls from inside the classrooms from a teacher and students inside.This is a breaking story.
