The COVID-era border policy known as Title 42 will end Thursday.
This week marks the end of pandemic restrictions on asylum that have allowed the U.S. to quickly expel migrants at the southern border for the last three years. Here's what to know.
Although not a total ban, the measure would make it difficult for someone to receive asylum if they haven’t first applied online or applied in a country they passed through before crossing illegally. The administration said it’s working on developing more ways for people to enter legally, with stiff penalties if they don’t.
