Texas Town Tired Of Mustang Owner's Reckless Driving Antics Puts Him Behind Bars | Carscoops carscoops
from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office arrested Gary Smith, 20, of San Augustine. The arrest is just the latest in a series of such events for Smith and it comes not only after he failed to appear at a court date but as a result of numerous calls of reckless driving from the local community.
According to Sheriff Kevin W. Windham, the Sheriff’s Office received several calls about Smith’s driving between January 1 and February 6, with callers reporting that he was driving erratically and at high rates of speed. How could the police be so sure that these callers were all reporting about the same driver?
To put it bluntly, Smith’s choice of vehicle wasn’t exactly subtle or sneaky. As the photos posted by the Sheriff’s Office show, the mangled vehicle you see here is a at its heart. Of course, it’s unique in that it doesn’t have a hood, and it doesn’t have a front bumper either.The 3.7-liter V6 in the engine bay looks to have, let’s just say, an unconventional attempt at a cold-air intake. From what we can see in the photos, it seems as though the brush guard at the front of the vehicle is held in place with a ratchet strap. If he was going for avibe we’d say he pulled it off.
Nevertheless, the Sheriff’s Office says that it received calls on January 1, January 11, January 27, January 29, February 2, February 3, February 5, and finally again on February 6. He’s now booked in the Shelby County jail for driving without a license and six separate failure-to-appear warrants for traffic violations.
