Plant delivery sounds like a precarious game — one writer reviews his experience ordering a fiddle-leaf fig online

Buying plants online has gotten even easier. Places like the Sill or Bloomscape offer more of a “premium” plant-shopping experience, with expertly curated selections that you can buy custom-potted in a variety of attractive planters. And Amazon has stepped up its game.
It came in a large cardboard box, clearly marked “This End Up,” and indicated that a live plant was inside. It was well-packaged, wrapped securely in paper, and held in place by indentations in the box, set in a plastic grower’s pot filled with soil. In short, it was just about as seamless a transaction as I could’ve hoped for — as easy and hassle-free as buying a toothbrush.

They’re very tolerant of low light and infrequent watering — which is why they’re a popular office plant too — and since they grow straight up, they’re ideal if you want something that doesn’t take up too much air space in your living room.

Supply has thankfully since caught up, and this one comes with its own midcentury style planter and plant stand for display.
$30 at Amazon Buy $30 at Amazon Buy Best succulents Shop Succulents 2.5” Terracotta Cactus Four Pack One the other end of the spectrum, succulents are generally considered quite easy to care for as long as you can give them enough light, and they can handle sitting in dry soil for a while. A four-pack of assorted miniature succulents, like this one in terra-cotta pots, would instantly upgrade a sunny windowsill.
