The Batman universe created by director Matt Reeves is expanding with an HBO Max Penguin spinoff series, and set photos reveal a major DC character.
The Batman's The Penguin spinoff series will feature a major DC character in the form of Sofia Falcone, and new set photos reveal the first look at actress Cristin Milioti in the series. The Batman director Matt Reeves serves as an executive producer on the series, leaving the showrunner job to Lauren LeFranc .

Close How The Penguin's Sofia Falcone compares to The Batman's Carmine Falcone, played by John Turturro, should be interesting. It will provide a connection to the Batman movie as the spinoff series led by Colin Farrell's Oswald Cobblepot unravels. Milioti was announced as Carmine Falcone's daughter, Sofia Falcone, late last October, but this is the first time she is seen in-character for The Penguin.
Both The Batman universe architect Matt Reeves and star Colin Farrell have talked about how The Penguin will set up the plot of Robert Pattinson's next adventure as the Dark Knight in The Batman 2. Based on the duo's words, it seems like Oswald Cobblepot's rise to power during The Penguin should be crucial to The Batman 2, and The Batman's Falcone/ Maroni history should be explained and play an important role on The Penguin.
Milioti's Sofia Falcone will play a major role in Penguin's ascension. Sofia is the next in line to succeed her father, and she is not going to give that role up without a fight. Farrell's Penguin is bound to be caught up in a fight between Sofia Falcone and Salvatore Maroni, who was just recently cast for the series with actor Clancy Brown set to play the villain.
