The best corner of Italy that you've never heard of
I was hiking with Buratti when we passed one of her neighbors as he pulled into the driveway of his countryside house. He invited all into this backyard, where he brought out cookies and big jugs of wine , and offered us coffee and a full-on lunch. Although the food is quite good , you go here for that ambience, both inside, outside on the terrace and especially on the rooftop. It’s on a par with the grand cafés of Paris and Vienna.And they come for the history—it was an early entrepreneurial project. Original owner Silvio Meletti earned the fortune that enabled him to buy and build it from selling anise liqueur. Another fresco, near the entrance, depicts the anise flower. .
