Oher has filed a petition accusing Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy of lying to him by having him sign papers that made them his conservators when he was a teenager.

Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, the family depicted in the 2009 movie “The Blind Side” intend to end their conservatorship for former NFL lineman Michael Oher, lawyers for the couple said Wednesday.

Oher, now 37, discovered the conservatorship earlier this year, and is accusing the Tuohys of enriching themselves at his expense. In his petition, he asked the court for the conservatorship to be terminated, and for him to be paid any money he is owed that the family earned off of his name and likeness — including from the movie starring Sandra Bullock that was based on his life story.

“Michael got every dime, every dime he had coming,” added the Tuohy family’s other lawyer, Randall Fishman.Representatives for Oher did not immediately respond to MarketWatch’s request for comment. So what is the difference between a conservatorship and an adoption? This is different from adoption. When an adult adopts a child, they become the guardian of that child and incur “the rights and obligations of a parent,” according to Cornell Law. The guardian is responsible for managing the welfare of the adoptee. And despite being an 18-year-old when he signed the papers, Oher still could have been legally adopted.
