A Nobel prize-winning economist is calling for more federal government action to combat the coronavirus crisis. He's advocating for making tests universally available and done frequently — as well as mass-producing protective equipment and ventilators.

Nordhaus of Yale University.New York University professor Paul Romer speaks at a news conference after being named a winner of the 2018 Nobel Prize in Economics with professor William D. Nordhaus of Yale University.in 2018 for his research on economic growth. We thought it might be a good time to talk about the future of the economy.

The way he sees it, the current two choices aren't nearly as good. One is continued social distancing until scientists deliver us a vaccine available for widespread use, which could take two years. Waiting that long, Romer says, would mean"the end of the economy and life as we know it." Romer and Garber also want mass production of face masks, gloves, full-body suits, hand sanitizer, ventilators, and everything it takes to make it safer for social interaction."It's just a tragedy that we don't have enough masks and face shields – and god help us – we may not even have enough gloves soon for people to do their work at the hospital," Romer says.

Hospital Holding Back Extra Coronavirus Test Kit In Case Josh Duhamel Needs OneHospital Holding Back Extra Coronavirus Test Kit In Case Josh Duhamel Needs OneBLOOMINGTON, IN—Bracing for what could be the worst of the coronavirus outbreak ahead, Monroe General Hospital was reportedly holding back an extra COVID-19 test kit Friday in case actor Josh Duhamel needed one. “This pandemic is forcing us to make hard choices, but Josh Duhamel should know the instant he feels even slightly tired, there’s a coronavirus test kit at Monroe Hospital with his name on it,” said Dr. Jenna Hofer, who noted medical staff weren’t confident the Transformers star was even near Indiana, but were following procedures to prepare for a worst-case scenario. “The second Josh Duhamel needs a ventilator, we’re ripping it straight off of an old person. We, as doctors, took an oath to protect Josh Duhamel. It would be a great failure of the practice of medicine if the man who played former marine Danny McCoy on NBC’s Las Vegas wasn’t able to receive a coronavirus test kit. We’re also working with physicians across the country to reserve hospital beds in the event Josh requires a test while traveling.” At press time, doctors were rushing to administer a COVID-19 testing kit to a guy who kind of looked like Brendan Fraser.
