Meet Donald Trump's $3.2 billion cabinet:
A onetime clerk for Supreme Court justice Antonin Scalia, Azar served as deputy secretary of health and human services during the George W. Bush administration. In 2007, he left Washington for Indianapolis, where he spent a decade at the pharma giant Eli Lilly. By 2017, Azar was earning an annual salary of nearly $2 million and had built up at least $3.4 million of Eli Lilly stock. Trump tapped him to replace Tom Price, who resigned amid ethics scandals.
Trump’s chief of staff has a mini real estate empire of his own. In South Carolina, Mulvaney has an interest in more than 500 acres of residential and tree-farming land. According to land records and a May 2018 ethics filing, Mulvaney also owns part of a limited liability company that loaded up on debt and purchased a parcel of land for $4.5 million in 2007. The timing couldn’t have been much worse.
