After 11 weeks, prosecutors in the criminal-fraud trial of Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes said they completed their case against her, handing the reins to her defense lawyers
SAN JOSE, Calif.—Prosecutors in the criminal-fraud trial of Theranos Inc. founder Elizabeth Holmes said Friday they completed their case against the former blood-testing startup chief executive, handing the reins to her lawyers.
The government called 29 witnesses since the trial began in September, setting out to prove that Ms. Holmes intended to mislead patients and investors about Theranos’s technology. Prosecutors capped 11 weeks of testimony with appearances on the stand from two patients who received erroneous blood test results from Theranos and a journalist who wrote a widely cited magazine cover story about Ms. Holmes.
