Real-estate guru Brandon Turner shares the low-risk investing approach his company is now taking amid housing market uncertainty — and which strategies he's avoiding
, where he interviewed successful individual real-estate investors and imparted knowledge from his own investing journey.
But that's not to say Turner is particularly bullish on every investing approach right now. Acknowledging the reality of the current market — with mortgage rates especially high, demand low, home prices down year-over-year, and recessionary pressures building — he said his investment firm, Open Door Capital, has shifted to taking a very low-risk approach.
"We just recently changed our whole model at Open Door Capital where almost every deal we do now is what we call a generational wealth fund. Because we were looking at the market, we're like, 'I don't like the risk,'"."Let's just pull back and say, 'Every deal we buy now,' generally speaking...'we're going to hold forever.'
