The next morning, I stood in a short line to get a rapid and PCR test from a CTS Mobile Testing van in Brooklyn. The rapid came back negative within an hour, but as the day went on, I was really congested and the headache lingered, so I was skeptical it could be accurate. The following day, I had the headache, congestion, and some fatigue, and by that afternoon my PCR came back positive. As of day 4, the congestion has eased somewhat, though I still have a mild headache.
The doctor told me I needed to fully quarantine for 10 days from my initial first symptoms. Luckily, I hadn’t left my apartment since I started feeling sick, and had only seen my roommates, but they both tested negative, as did everyone else I saw during the days leading up to feeling sick. The first few days after testing positive I still felt pretty bad and was extremely tired.
I isolated with my partner throughout the holidays, but was able to see my family after testing negative for seven days. I had no symptoms as far as I can tell besides exhaustion and being congested, but I was also finishing my grad program and doing finals, so I have no idea what was a COVID symptom and what was just me burnt out and running on fumes.
