The 2024 elections are on track to be the most expensive in United States history — billions of dollars have been spent in seven states alone.

The advertising tracking company AdImpact projected the most spending to go toward Arizona, followed by Pennsylvania, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Georgia, and Wisconsin. Over three-quarters of the projected $2.1 billion in spending for the 2024 presidential race will go toward these seven battleground states. In total, AdImpact expects political expenditures to total $10.2 billion across broadcast, cable, radio, satellite, digital, and connected television.

Aside from the presidential race, it projects $2.1 billion to be spent in Senate races, $1.7 billion in House races, $361 million in gubernatorial races, and $3.3 billion in down-ballot races, Axios reported. Spending in Arizona outpaces the next six top states by a long shot — the state is projected to see $821 million spent on ads in the 2024 cycle. That's nearly $100 million more than the runner-up, Pennsylvania, which is expected to see $725 million.Political expenditures are expected to amount to $659 million in Michigan, $576 million in Nevada, $435 million in North Carolina, $383 million in Georgia, and $362 million in Wisconsin.
