Released in September, season 4 marked the conclusion of the hit show starring Asa Butterfield, Emma Mackey, and Ncuti Gatwa.
The show is actually really about friendship. Even though it’s called Sex Education — and it has these sex stories of the week, and it has big love stories and romantic stories — I think, really underneath it, it’s about friendship and community and being able to kind of find your people. Based on Nunn's comments, sex served as a means to an end in Sex Education, rather than being the point of the show. Through the sex clinic and the ability to connect with others on a real, intimate level due to their sexual issues, Otis, Maeve, and other characters were able to form a valuable community, which culminated in the touching funeral scene for Maeve's mother Erin , in which former students from Moordale came out to support Maeve despite being in different places in life.
