The Venom F5 Roadster is a drop-top Hennessey says can eclipse 300 mph.
Like many of today's most extreme hypercars, the Venom F5 Roadster uses a removable one-piece roof that has to be taken off manually and placed outside of the car. It's made from carbon fiber and sealed to the chassis via four quick-release bolts and a pair of latches. Weighing in at just 18 pounds, it's light enough to be removed or installed by a single person.
With the roof installed, the Venom F5 Roadster is nearly identical to its fixed-roof sibling, with matching silhouettes front to rear. Under the glass behind the cabin, you'll find Hennessey's in-house designed, tuned to 1817 horsepower and 1193 lb-ft of torque. It gets power to the rear wheels via a single-clutch automated paddle-shift transmission. The car also gets a set of unique forged aluminum alloy wheels.
Only minor adjustments to the chassis were needed to ensure the same handling characteristics found in the coupe, according to Hennessey. Though exact performance claims were not given, the company says the F5 Roadster has been engineered to exceed a top speed of 300 mph. That number can only be achieved with the roof piece installed, for aerodynamic reasons.“We created the Venom F5 to be the ultimate expression of a hypercar," founder John Hennessey said in a statement.
Hennessey plans to build just 30 examples of the Venom F5 Roadster, each with a starting price of $3 million. As with the 24 coupes, the company expects them to sell out at Monterey before the weekend ends.
