The world has 46 self-made billionaires aged 40 or under, led by the U.S. with 21
, according to a list released Friday.
Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz, 34, claims the second spot with US$15 billion, most of which comes from his 3% stake in Facebook. He left the company in 2008 and co-founded software company Asana, and Good Ventures, a philanthropic foundation. Zhang Yiming of ByteDance, 36, is fourth on the list, with a net worth of US$14 billion. The newsfeed and short video platform, which is privately owned, has a market valuation of US$75 billion.
Thirty-four of the 46 billionaires aged 40 and under made their wealth through internet-related products. Not surprisingly, the global technology hub San Francisco is the top city with the most young billionaires with 12, followed by Beijing with 9 billionaires.
