Thieves yank ATM from convenience store in National City [Breaking]

Four thieves used a stolen pickup to yank an ATM out of a convenience store in National City early Wednesday morning, police said.

Officers were called to the 7-Eleven on Sweetwater Road near Orange Street shortly before 3:15 a.m. Witnesses told police four people got out of the white truck after breaking the glass. They used the truck to pull the cash machine from the business and took money from the ATM before driving off, said National City police Sgt. Kenneth Springer. The 7-Eleven sustained “a significant amount of damage” from the theft, Springer said.that occurred more than a week ago.

Early on the morning of June 5, three or four suspects used a Ford F-250 truck to break a window at a gas station to steal an ATM. Thieves loaded the machine into the back of the truck and made off with about $2,000, according to Chula Vista police. The next day, police recovered the stolen truck used in the theft in Chula Vista, said police Lt. Lamar Barrett.
