Legendary Scottish car designer Ian Callum's consultancy wants to show the world just how easy it is to recycle food waste to create a very unique interior
your car. Even so, the aftermarket side has lagged behind, but Callum teamed up with green tech company Ottan to find ways to create more interior parts using reclaimed materials. Just what materials are these intrepid designers using on this classic Porsche 911?
A great example is the trim surround for the window switches that are made from recycled walnut shells and eggshells. Using expired rice or lentils makes a translucent material and is used on lamp covers or illuminated switches. For flame-resistance, coffee pulp replaces other glossy plastics like the dashboard inserts.
"More of our customers are starting to think about sustainable projects and put an emphasis on the circular economy," said Callum co-founder and design director, Ian Callum,"With others, we might nudge them down that path, highlighting the business benefits of making a more sustainable choice."
