Chris Hemsworth gets honest about the pressure of playing Thor: 'You’re waking up worrying, ‘Is the film gonna work? Have I let people down? Did I do a good enough job?' [...] it’s a very tricky thing to care about something so much...' 😯

Chris Hemsworth admits that the pressure of being in the MCU and playing Thor has kept him up at night. Debuting as the God of Thunder in 2011 via Kenneth Branagh's Thor film, Hemsworth is one of the six founding heroes of the comic book franchise. After the Infinity Saga, however, only he, Mark Ruffalo, and Jeremy Renner continue to be in the MCU from the original batch of characters.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Speaking with Men's Journal in light of his upcoming Disney+ show, Limitless with Chris Hemsworth, the actor opens up about his experience being in the MCU for more than a decade now, and he candidly reveals how the pressure of playing Thor impacts him. He adds that while he has learned how to deal with the massive expectations from the public to always deliver, sometimes, he still reaches out to his mum to talk through "some old scars that pop up.

You’re waking up worrying, ‘Is the film gonna work? Have I let people down? Did I do a good enough job? Did I promote it properly? Are fans responding?’ Just all the stuff I like to think I’m beyond, but it’s a very tricky thing to care about something so much, put your heart and soul in it and then let go and not care about the result.

There are a couple of upcoming MCU projects that Thor is already expected to partake in. The obvious ones are Destin Daniel Cretton's Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and the still-directorless Avengers: Secret Wars. The aforementioned films are set to culminate the Multiverse Saga the same way Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame did the Infinity Saga. Aside from them, however, it's interesting to consider where he might be involved.

For now, it's safe to say that Hemsworth's Thor isn't going anywhere. As a founding Avenger, his continued existence in the MCU carries weight, especially as the universe reconvenes to fight another formidable foe in the Multiverse Saga. Beyond that, however, is unknown. But, as previously mentioned, Marvel has the option to keep the God of Thunder in the franchise even as he ages, resulting in his role shifting from being an on-the-ground hero to an elder statesman similar to Odin.
