German authorities now believe the three deaths may have been a murder-suicide pact — and linked to two other deaths.

The deaths vexed authorities in Bavaria as they raced for clues in what appeared to be a brutal triple slaying in a verdant and tranquil hotel in Passau near the Austrian border, which ultimately would be linked to a pair of deaths hundreds of miles away. Prosecutors now believe the woman, identified as Farina C., 30, shot the couple first and then herself in a “killing on demand,” the Associated Press reported, citing German media.
Police found two dead women in the apartment on Monday, Lower Bavaria police said in a statement. Their identities and connections to the victims in Passau, Bavaria, are unknown, police said.
