The Tokyo 2020 official ticketing website states that “No refunds, cancellations or exchanges will be issued for date or time changes.” However, officials have indicated that the policy may be relaxed in light of the postponement.
Back in January, when the 2020 Tokyo Olympics were still six months away, securing tickets to watch the Games in person was an Olympian feat in itself as international demand for seats surged. Tokyo had become the hottest Olympics ticket in decades.
But with the Olympics now delayed to a yet-to-be determined date in 2021, the lucky buyers now have an even more difficult challenge: figuring out what to do with the tickets they fought to buy.
