Tiger Woods won't play in the Hero World Challenge after all.
He will be replaced in the field at the Hero World Challenge, an unofficial PGA Tour event held at Albany Golf Club in the Bahamas, by Sepp Straka. The tournament has a 20-man field and doesn't have a cut.
Woods said he is still planning to play in The Match and the PNC Championship with his son, Charlie, later this month. He can ride in a cart at both of those events. Woods will play with Rory McIlroy at Pelican Golf Club in Florida in the latest edition of The Match on Dec. 10. Thein a rare all-golfer version of the charity event.
Woods hasn’t played on Tour since he missed the cut at The British Open in July. He’s competed just three times since his 2021 car crash in Southern California, first at the Masters and then again at the PGA Championship. It’s unclear when Woods will play in an official Tour event again. After hosting this week in the Bahamas, Woods will also host the Genesis Invitational in Los Angeles in February — which could mark a good spot for his return. The Tour will resume play with the Tournament of Champions on Jan. 5 in Hawaii.
