A Willis delivery driver is beloved by residents for covering and hiding gifts from children in order to not spoil Christmas. A TikTok influencer raised $3,000 for the FedEx driver known for 'saving Christmas' in Montgomery County.
Michael Sterling was approaching a house in Willis, his arms carrying a bundle of unmarked packages, when a little girl stopped him on the driveway. She wanted to know something.Those packages didn't offer any clues to what was inside, but it got Sterling thinking about those deliveries that might. He certainly didn't want to spoil any holiday surprises, especially gifts for children.
This small act of kindness, and anothers Sterling has shown in the community, moved Sedita along with her more than 90,000 followers, to raise $3,000 as a thank you. Willis resident Hannah Houston, 27, who also contributed to the fundraiser, stopped Sterling as he was delivering her packages and gave him Sedita's contact.After a FOX 26 report about Sedita's fundraiser, community members began to learn about their delivery driver's life.
He remembers when he was about 18 when he was unable to answer a friend's phone call because he was busy working. "We were just feeling really low from it, because he wasn't working," she said."It was just hard ... and I was having to do all the heavy lifting ... around the house."
