Gabby Petito's parents filed a wrongful death lawsuit Thursday against the Moab City Police Department over the handling of a domestic incident between Petito and her fiancé, Brian Laundrie.
Body camera footage showed Petito was upset when officers approached, explaining she and Laundrie had been fighting.
Brian Stewart, another attorney for the family, said new witnesses recently came forward with evidence that"add new dimension and understanding to how the officers performed in their investigation and their treatment of Gabby that day." Joseph Petito was the first to address questions during the news conference saying that some things need to change.Schmidt emphasized the same message, but said the family saw this as an opportunity to help other families.
