The child drove his tractor down the sidewalk to the fairgrounds, through a back gate and through a heavy crowd of people attending opening night festivities before he got to the Tilt-a-Whirl.

It's not the first time a toddler has left home in a battery-operated vehicle. In 2016, a South Carolina boy left his home at 2 a.m. to drive his BMW around the neighborhood. In that instance, passersby noticed the child and called the police, who took the boy to the police station until they located his parents.

In 2017, a pair of siblings, aged five and two, crashed their mother's car when they took it for a ride in West Virginia. According to the, one child pressed the gas and brake pedals while the other controlled the steering wheel. And last month, a 4-year-old swiped his great-grandfather's Hyundai Santa Fe when he wanted some candy. The Minnesota boy drove through his neighborhood before he got onto a main street during rush hour at around 8:30 a.m.
