“We will continue discussions if there is a spike in cases,” said Muto at a press conference. “At this point, the coronavirus cases may rise or fall, so we will think about what we should do when the situation arises.” The Games were delayed by a year due to the severity of the coronavirus outbreak. They officially get under way on Friday and run until Aug. 8. But they remain branded as Tokyo 2020. The Paralympics are set to run Aug. 24-Sept. 5, 2021.
