The Washington State Transportation Commission is holding a meeting Tuesday to discuss several toll increase proposals.
The potential changes to toll rates — which could go into effect as soon as December 2023 — will affect express lanes on Interstate 405 and State Route 167. The vote will begin public outreach on these proposals.
According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, current toll rates on SR 167 range between 50 cents and $9. Rates on I-405 range from 75 cents to $10 for drivers depending on if they have a Good to Go pass. Dunn went on to say drivers are already facing the highest gas prices in the nation due to the new cap and trade program, adding 50 cents per gallon of fuel.
