Tom Durkin, arguably the most decorated horse race announcer ever, is coming out of retirement to call the Belmont Stakes in June on Fox.

Prior to his full retirement, heFox Sports announced Thursday that Durkin would be making his return to the broadcast booth.

“We are honored to have the legendary Tom Durkin return for the Belmont Stakes this year,” Fox Sports president of production and operations Brad Zager said. “When it became official that an iconic piece of the historic Triple Crown would air on FOX, we knew it could only be complete with Tom’s voice as the soundtrack.”about how anxiety over calling the Race for the Roses would creep into his dreams for months.
