Yes, it’s a story about rule-breaking, but it is also about people who have been conditioned to keep their dalliances under wraps.
. With Hiddleston, the production also arrives with considerable star power behind it, but the tone of the Broadwayis anything but glitzy. This is pure Pinter. As much as the characters gloat about vacations in Venice or snipe about big houses in Hampstead, the play unfolds in a kind of nowhere land, a washed-out, grayscale set unencumbered by scenery or—save for an occasional bottle or tablecloth—the physical texture of domestic realism.
