The Chicago White Sox announced Saturday manager Tony La Russa has been ordered by doctors not to manage the team for the rest of the season due to health concerns.
At the time, the team said the 77-year-old's absence will be"Miguel Cairo has filled in as interim manager and will remain in that position the remainder of the season.
The White Sox won the AL Central last year but followed up with a disappointing 63-65 record with La Russa through 128 games this year.
