It wouldn’t surprise anyone to see Fort Bend Marshall's Arveyon Davis walk away with...

Fort Bend Marshall's Arveyon Davis is the state meet's top seed in the 110-meter hurdles, an event in which he took bronze last year., the Houston area will be well-represented at the UIL state track and field championships, which run Thursday through Saturday at the University of Texas in Austin.

Several local athletes have their sights set on claiming gold at Mike A. Myers Stadium. Here’s a look at some of the top boys performers to watch as the action gets underway.Davis is no stranger to the state podium, but he’ll be aiming for gold this time around. The senior took bronze in the 110 hurdles last year, clocking in at 13.78 seconds. He ran 13.53 to win the Region III-5A title this year and is the No. 1 seed in the state.

Summer Creek just keeps churning out some of the top athletes in the state. Bradley is the most decorated guy this year, and he’ll be aiming for gold at state. He took silver in the 110 hurdles and bronze in the 300 hurdles last year with times of 13.71 and 37.81, respectively. His times are even faster this year, and he’s seeded second in both events after claiming a pair of regional golds. His best 300 time of 36.23 at the Victor Lopez Classic ranks No. 1 in the state.

Another dual-sport athlete, Hicks is a five-star football recruit and is hoping to be the next great defensive line terror for Texas A&M. He doesn’t have much experience in track and field and has only competed in 11 meets in his career. That doesn’t mean much when you consider he owns the No. 1 mark in the state in the discus this year at 202 feet, 2 inches. Hicks will have plenty of local competition in Austin.
