The National Weather Service has issued a new tornado warning in the far northeast area of Collin County, near Blue Ridge. The weather service also issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Plano, McKinney and Frisco, effective until 10:15 p.m.

The warning, which includes the cities of Prosper, Anna and Celina, is in effect until 9:30 p.m. Around 8:50 p.m., the weather service said radar showed “strong rotation” near the Denton County city of Aubrey. Earlier, the weather service put the entire Dallas-Fort Worth area under a tornado watch until 2 a.m. Tuesday. A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for severe storms with tornadoes to develop.Shortly before 3 p.m. Monday, the weather service issued a severe thunderstorm watch for more than two dozen counties in North Texas, including Wise, Jack, Parker and Cooke counties, effective until 9 p.m.
