WEATHER ALERT: A Tornado Warning has been issued for parts of St. Johns County until 6:00 pm.
Pea-sized hail and strong winds were expected in the area after tornadic activity was detected by radar.
The National Weather Service said a water spout is possible as the storm crosses the St. Johns River into Clay County between Russell and Green Cove Springs. Persistent rotation aloft over Fruit Cove Springs at this time that could potentially be producing a tornado, and then a water spout as it crosses the St. Johns River into Clay County between Russell and Green Cove Springs.
