Former President Donald Trump has added a new member to his legal defense team ahead of surrendering at the Fulton County Jail in Georgia after being indicted in a Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act case on 13 counts.
Veteran criminal defense lawyer Steve Sadow has joined the former president's defense, his office confirmed to the Washington Examiner. Sadow has defended high-profile cases in the past, and he is listed as"special counsel for white collar and high profile defense" on Schulten Ward Turner & Weiss's website."I have been retained to represent President Trump in the Fulton County, Georgia case," Sadow said in a statement to ABC News.
The lawyer is known for having defended famous clients such as William Roberts Jr., also known as Rick Ross; Howard Stern; Clifford J. Harris Jr., also known as T.I.; Ray Lewis; Joseph Sweeting; Usher; and Tyrone Griffin, also known as Ty Dolla Sign. Trump announced earlier this week that he would be surrendering at the jail on Thursday, where his bond was set at $200,000. Trump will have a mug shot taken, as several co-defendants already have, including former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani. The former president said he is proud to be arrested in Georgia for what he claims was fighting for election integrity.
"NOBODY HAS EVER FOUGHT FOR ELECTION INTEGRITY LIKE PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP," he wrote on Truth Social."FOR DOING SO, I WILL PROUDLY BE ARRESTED TOMORROW AFTERNOON IN GEORGIA. GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!"Trump was indicted last week by a grand jury in Georgia in a sweeping RICO case brought by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. Eighteen others were indicted alongside him for efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election in Georgia.
