He went on to explain that he thought the previous question related to whether the U.S. was providing financial support, adding that while that had yet to happen, he wouldn’t rule it out. Protests rippled across the country beginning in mid-November sparked by a spike in government-set gas prices. The demonstrations were also fueled by anger over a sputtering economy hit with crippling sanctions from the U.S.
