President Trump will be in New Jersey on Jan. 28 for a rally in newly-minted Republican Rep. Jeff Van Drew’s district
Van Drew is not mentioned on the invitation, but he had told local media outlets that he expected Trump to come to the 2nd Congressional District.
Trump is the reason Van Drew, a longtime ally of the South Jersey Democratic machine, became a Republican. The freshman congressman, who as a conservative Democrat served nearly two decades in the New Jersey Legislature before being elected to Congress in 2018, was one of only two Democratic House members to oppose impeaching the president.
