The president would like to make one thing clear: The Trump National hotel in Doral, Fla. — which he's pushing as the site for next year's G-7 meeting — does not have bed bugs.
"No bedbugs at Doral," Trump tweeted Tuesday morning. "The Radical Left Democrats, upon hearing that the perfectly located Doral National MIAMI was under consideration for the next G-7, spread that false and nasty rumor."The "nasty rumor" to which he refers stems from a 2016 lawsuit brought by Eric Linder, a New Jersey man who claimed his room in the Doral's Jack Nicklaus villa had a bed bug infestation.
Trump on Monday offered an extended pitch on the international stage for his Doral resort, while also claiming that he doesn't care about any profit he might personally receive. “My people looked at 12 sites, all good but some were two hours from an airport, some were four hours. They were so far away. Some didn't allow this or they didn't allow that,” he told reporters. "With Doral, we have a series of magnificent buildings — we call them bungalows — they each hold from 50 to 70 very luxurious rooms with magnificent views. We have incredible conference rooms, incredible restaurants. It's like such a natural.
