President Trump defended his decision to not send a lawyer to a House Judiciary Committee impeachment hearing later this week, citing its timing and calling the broader inquiry a “hoax.”
Speaking to reporters as he prepared to leave Washington, Mr. Trump criticized Democrats for holding the hearing Wednesday, when he will be in the U.K. for a North Atlantic Treaty Organization summit.
