President Trump said he's glad that some Republican senators who held up a repeal of the Affordable Care Act no longer serve in Congress.
President Donald Trump said on Wednesday he was “very happy” that some senators who held up Republicans’ attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act in 2017 have “gone to greener pastures.”
"We needed 60 votes. And we had 51 votes. And sometimes, you know, we had a little hard time with a couple of them, right?” Trump said. “Fortunately, they're gone now. They've gone on to greener pastures. Or perhaps far less green pastures…They’re gone. I’m very happy they’re gone.” Sens. Jeff Flake of Arizona, Bob Corker of Tennessee and Dean Heller of Nevada expressed concerns about the “skinny repeal” option but ultimately voted for it. All three senators did not seek reelection in 2018. Flake and Heller were replaced by Democrats.
