A Treasury staffer has resigned from the department after his mother pleaded guilty to illegally helping him graduate from Georgetown University
Littlefair, who has not been charged with a crime, declined to comment when reached by POLITICO. When asked for comment, a Treasury spokesman said: “James Littlefair no longer works at the Treasury Department.” Karen Littlefair and a lawyer representing her did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Andrew Littlefair, who worked for President Ronald Reagan as a staff assistant in the advance office, is on the board of trustees of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute and brought Reagan’s bible to the inauguration so Donald Trump could be sworn in on it. A spokeswoman for Littlefair declined to comment.
A spokesperson for Georgetown said the university’s honor council “will investigate and adjudicate the case and may recommend sanctions up to and including the revocation of the student’s degree.” The university also said the university is implementing tougher procedures to protect against students from cheating in online classes. An ASU spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
