TSA warns you can't take Disney World 'Star Wars' Coke bomb on an airplane
Star Wars fans were excited for the opening of Disney World’s Galaxy’s Edge park, only to discover that they can’t take certain souvenirs home with them. The attraction, which opens Thursday, will feature more than 1,000 unique items for visitors to purchase. One, however, won’t get through security on the way home. The park’s collectibles have already drawn considerable attention from excited fans; specifically, soft drink bottles stylized to resemble Batuu’s thermal detonators.
On August 13, a fan tweeted at TSA’s official Twitter account with a photo of the bottles, writing: “I know these look dodgy, but can they be packed in suitcase? Thanks”. TSA replied saying that “replica and inert explosives aren’t allowed in either carry-on or checked bags.” When people asked if they could transport the bottle with a different cap, TSA still wouldn’t budge.
“Even with a normal bottle cap, this item is still considered a replica and is not allowed in carry-on or checked bags,” the account said this week. “If our officers discover a replica item during screening and believes it’s real, the item will be treated as such until advised otherwise by law enforcement.”
While many guests are criticizing TSA for their rigidity on this policy, it’s better that they be too strict with their rules than too lax. And besides, TSA’s “What Can I Bring” guide does say that travelers can bring lightsaber toys on an aircraft, so it’s not really that bad.— AskTSA August 13, 2019Related Articles:The post TSA Says You Can’t Take Disney World ‘Star Wars’ Coke Bomb On an Airplane appeared first on Fatherly.
