SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY In an interview with Collider, Gimple provids an optimistic update for Tales of the Walking Dead season 2. Gimple says that, while Tales of the Walking Dead didn't end on a cliffhanger that would demand another season, he would like to return to the anthology series in the future. Read Gimple's full comments below:
"Oh, yeah. I hope we do. We’re focusing on these classic characters, this year. The thing with Tales, it didn’t end on this cliffhanger where you’ve gotta get back to that. It’s an anthology show. So, I’m hoping that we can get back to it, but it’s probably gonna be catch all as catch can, as far as within all the other shows. This year, though, is about focusing on these classic character shows, but also, we’re still wrapping up Fear the Walking Dead.
The first of these upcoming spinoffs is The Walking Dead: Dead City, which features Maggie and Negan as they traverse New York City together. Though there is no set release date yet, Dead City will be the first of the new Walking Dead spinoffs to premiere, with the announced release for the series being June 2023. After that, Norman Reedus will reprise his role as Daryl in the series Daryl Dixon, which will see the archer exploring a post-apocalyptic France.
Alongside the slate of new spinoffs, the first-ever Walking Dead spinoff Fear the Walking Dead will head into its final season on May 14. Season 8 will be divided into two parts, with six episodes in each. With the Walking Dead franchise having a busy year and a half, it may still be some time before other projects go into development. However, Gimple's comments on a potential Tales of the Walking Dead season 2 are reassuring, and more of the anthology series could come in the future.
