The popular Alamo Heights-area breakfast spot on North New Braunfels broke the sad news on Facebook.

The restaurant, located along North New Braunfels Street near Alamo Heights, was a popular gathering spot for pancakes, breakfast tacos and its famous rotating selection of Twin Muffins, among other menu items. The cafe's sweet potato muffins have earned a cultlike following over the past four decades.
"We have some heartbreaking news ... our last day of operation will be this coming Wednesday the 21st. Thank you for all the support over the last 43 years," the Facebook post said. Breakfast options at Twin Sisters Bakery & Cafe includes, clockwise from top left, blueberry pancakes, a Vaquero omelette, chilaquiles, bacon and eggs, breakfast tacos and French toast.Longtime fans of the restaurant immediately began sharing memories and gratitude for the cafe's role as a community anchor point for Alamo Heights-area residents, with more than 100 people posting their thoughts and well-wishes to the owners and staff of the business."So sad to hear this news.
"I had so much fun working there from 1997-2003. Killer crew, killer food, all around great vibe," Facebook user Mark Fleming added."Great memories for sure. There weren’t a lot of healthy options back then and y’all filled a void for many people. I’m gonna have to come by one more time before y’all close your doors."
