Three years ago today, a three-year-old boy climbed into the gorilla exhibit at the Cincinnati Zoo. A worker who feared for the boy’s safety shot and killed a 17-year-old gorilla named Harambe. The ape’s death set the internet ablaze, with memes and stories spreading to the far reaches of the web.
