The Jane Edna Hunter Social Services Center is the headquarters for the Cuyahoga County Division of Children and Family Services. It's also where children are housed when providers are unable or unwilling to care for them. CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Two Cuyahoga County employees are accused of assaulting a 14-year-old in their care and custody.
Jacqueline Carter of Garfield Heights and Natalie Coats of Cleveland were charged Tuesday with assault in Cleveland Municipal Court. The charge is a first-degree misdemeanor. Carter and Coats worked at the county’s Division of Children and Family Services. They are accused of striking the child “multiple times about the body,” according to arrest warrants filed by the sheriff’s department. The assault occurred on July 7 at the Jane Edna Hunter Social Services Center, the warrants state.Carter, 57, and Coats, 58, are listed in county records as family service aides as of the beginning of this year. Cater was hired in 1993, and Coats was hired in 2005.
