This year, DMN Charities has added two new charities to its roster. The first is The MINT Foundation, an organization that serves people living in South Dallas, DeSoto, Duncanville, Lancaster, Cedar Hill, Red Oak, Glenn Heights, Wilmer-Hutchins and Waxahachie.
The foundation provides rent and utility assistance for families experiencing financial emergencies and hosts food distribution events. It also offers after-school programs that teach kids about the college application process and financial literacy.The other organization that is new to the DMN Charities campaign is The Storehouse of Collin County. This group provides food, clothing and mentoring to struggling Collin County residents.
Despite Collin County’s reputation as a prosperous place, more than 100,000 of its residents are food-insecure. That’s about a tenth of the population. Given the level of need, The Storehouse provides assistance with groceries. These nonprofits focus on helping families get the resources they need to become self-sufficient. As North Texas continues to develop rapidly, this work will ensure that our neighbors going through hard times are not left behind.The campaign will run from Sunday to Dec. 31, with a goal of raising $1.25 million. 100% of donations go directly to the nonprofits.
