The top-ranking U.S. military officer said it was premature to discuss a possible withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan
WASHINGTON—, in his first public comments about the ongoing peace talks to end the country’s nearly 18-year-long war.
“I don’t think about it as we’re going to withdraw, I think about, we are going to initiate interact and dialogue, ideally leading to peace and stability for the Afghan people,” Marine Gen. Joe Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told reporters on Wednesday.
