The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is the latest organization to sue Tesla over allegations that it allowed pervasive racism at its Fremont plant and retaliated against Black employees who tried to speak up
violated federal law by allowing widespread and ongoing racial harassment. Moreover, it alleges that some employees faced retaliation for opposing their treatment.Allegations of widespread racist harassment
“Slurs were used casually and openly in high-traffic areas and at worker hubs,” said the EEOC in a news release announcing the lawsuit. “Black employees regularly encountered graffiti, including variations of the N-word, swastikas, threats, and nooses, on desks and other equipment, in bathroom stalls, within elevators, and even on new vehicles rolling off the production line.”
